The Nursing Clinical Manager (NCM) is accountable for the daily (shift) operational management of a nursing unit, and for assisting the Director of Nursing (DON) with human resource, quality, and financial management of assigned unit. The NCM oversees clinical operations and care delivery on an assigned shift. The NCM serves as a clinical leader on the unit. This manager assists the DON with the implementation of plans and policies, and adherence to standards on the unit. The NCM assists with evaluation and reports relevant to achievement of goals. The NCM is accountable for coaching unit-nursing personnel in implementing specific HCHD Nursing Professional Practice Model (NPPM) guided practices and facilitates achievement of targeted outcomes on assigned unit. The NCM provides oversight to ensure area care delivery, quality management, and staff utilization patterns are congruent with NPPM framework. In addition, this manager facilitates actualization of shared governance and practice level advancement of area personnel. The NCM has the authority to make operational and human resource decisions relevant to his or her assigned unit and shift as long as decisions are consistent with district and nursing and departmental policies, standards, and other Chief Nursing Officer and Nurse Executive Council approved guidelines. | |
