Job Summary
The Vice President, Patient Safety and Clinical Risk Management (VP PSCRM) provides strategic leadership for the Harris Health Patient Safety and Clinical Risk Management Program reporting to the Associate Chief Medical Officer, Chief Safety and Quality Officer, with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Executive Vice President, Chief Compliance and Risk Officer. He or she will oversee a leadership team of Directors, dedicated to patient safety, clinical regulatory compliance, clinical risk management, and clinical performance improvement as it relates to risk mitigation strategies. Accountable for the organizational strategic direction in reduction of clinical errors, implementation of a system of accountability, developing robust knowledge about errors, and leading the cultural transformation to promote and sustain a culture of safety; ensures compliance with full accreditation by DNV and CMS Conditions of Participation for areas of assigned responsibility. The VP PSCRM will collaborate actively with operational, administrative, and clinical leaders across the organization in each of these domains. The VP PSCRM will also work closely with those responsible for Patient Experience and Enterprise Risk Management. The VP PSCRM oversees processes related to adverse event reporting and response, external reporting to regulatory agencies, implementation of a root cause analysis process, and development of appropriate action plans to reduce clinical and regulatory risk, and implementation of hospital-wide safety initiatives. The VP PSCRM plays an important role in representing the patient safety strategy to the responsible oversight committees including the Patient Safety Collaborative and Board of Trustees Quality Committee and serves as the organizations Patient Safety and Clinical Risk Domain Expert. In that capacity, the VP PSCRM participates on regional and national committees and initiatives that align with the Harris Health System's mission.

Minimum Qualifications

Degrees
Bachelor in Clinical Health Care Related Field Required
Master Degree in Clinical Health Care Related Field Required
Doctorate in Clinical Health Care related Field (i.e. Nursing, Medical, PhD) Preferred

Licenses & Certifications:
Cert Prof in Hlth Care Quality (CPHQ) to be completed within two (2) years of employment
Professional license commensurate with educational degree (i.e. RN, MD, PharmD)
Certified Patient Safety Officer (CPSO) o be completed within two (2) years of employment
ASHRM Enterprise Risk Management Certificate to be completed within one (1) year of employment

Work Experience:
Five (5) Years Work Experience of quality/risk management and/or patient safety
Five (5) Years of Work Experience in Managing Safety Event Risk Reduction Strategies
Ten (10) Years Work Experience in clinical experience

Management Experience:
Five (5) Years of Management Experience of quality/risk management or patient safety in a director level role or above

Communication Skills: Above Average Verbal Communication (Heavy Public Contact), Exceptional Verbal (Public Speaking), Writing/Correspondence, Writing/Reports

Proficiencies: MS Access, MS Excel, MS Word, Personal Computer
