Job Summary
The Clinical Pharmacist delivers direct, patient-centered care by managing medication therapy, performing comprehensive clinical reviews, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to optimize therapeutic outcomes. This role ensures regulatory compliance, supports safe medication distribution, and leads educational initiatives for patients and healthcare staff. By integrating technology, promoting financial stewardship, and driving quality improvement, the pharmacist enhances operational efficiency and advances pharmacy practice across the health system.
Minimum Qualifications
Degrees:
Bachelor of Pharmacy Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or Pharm. D. degree from an accredited school of Pharmacy
Doctor of Pharmacy Preferred
Licenses & Certifications:
Adv. Cardiac Life Support: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) with course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA required for inpatient positions prior to or within 6 months of employment; Preferred for All Outpatient
IV Sterile Certification: Required for all inpatient areas and Fondren Pharmacy; All other Outpatient Preferred
Basic Life Support: American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of employment.
Pharmacist: Texas Pharmacist License or eligible for Texas Pharmacist License; must obtain licensure within 90 days of employment.
Texas Pharmacist Preceptor Certification Preferred
Work Experience:
Two (2) Years Work Experience
ACS positions: Two (2) years of progressive, relevant experience in an OP/Retail setting required (no residency)
IP positions: Two (2) years of progressive, relevant experience in an inpatient hospital setting required (no residency)
Completion of PGY1 ASHP-accredited residency highly Residency preferred
