Clinical Pastoral Education Program

Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)

Harris Health is a community-focused academic healthcare system dedicated to improving the health of those most in need in Harris County through quality care delivery, coordination of care and education. Training the next generations of chaplains is part of our mission! Our ACPE accredited program offers a year-long clinical residency that begins each September and ends in August. Applications are accepted throughout the year. Positions are available with a competitive salary plus benefits including excellent health care and generous paid time off.

The CPE program is based at Ben Taub, a 402 bed hospital with a renowned Level 1 Trauma center and multiple specialties. We also serve Lyndon B Johnson Hospital with 215 beds, the busiest Level 3 trauma Center in the nation and a regional center for neonatal intensive care. Our program offers opportunity to work with professional chaplains in a department that meets and exceeds quality metrics for Spiritual Care. Harris Health is a unique and challenging environment for learning and practicing the skills of spiritual care.

One unit of CPE is preferred but not required. The application fee of $25 must accompany the application. Tuition is $300 per unit.

The official program dates are August 14, 2023 – August 8, 2024.
