HIM (Health Information Management) Director

JOB SUMMARY:
This position will work under the direction of Vice-President of Clinical Documentation and is responsible for all necessary decisions related to the daily activities for the Health Information Management (HIM) functions for the Harris Health System and Harris Correctional Health. Develops, implements, and maintains standardized, organization-wide policies and procedures to monitor the progress and success of the HIM (Scanning, Release of Information (ROI) and Birth Certificate teams). Also identifies educational needs of the staff; oversees data quality reviews as needed; and provides guidance for improvement system-wide to ensure compliance with various regulations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree: Bachelor's, Health Information Management; Master's - Healthcare Administration preferred
Licensure & Certification:
a. RHIA or RHIT preferred
b. Certification Acknowledgement of Paternity (AOP)
Work Experience: Five (5) Years Work Experience in HIM Department preferably Acute Care and Teaching facility
Management Experience: Five (5) Years of Management experience Scanning, Birth Certificate and Release of Information departments
Equipment Operated:
Communication Skills: Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contact), Exceptional Verbal (e.g., Public Speaking), Writing /Composing (Correspondence / Reports)
Proficiencies: MS Word, PC, Typing
