Job Summary
Leads Quality Assurance efforts in the Department of Laboratory Services, scheduling and facilitating regular QAPI meetings and ensuring appropriate reporting to relevant accrediting bodies. The Laboratory Quality Specialist Sr coordinate QA activities, maintain compliance with regulatory and safety standards, and oversee the QMS and performance improvement activities. Conduct routine audits, provide quality training, review new implementations, and serve as compliance resources. Collaborate with leadership to resolve non - conformances, lead accreditation efforts, communicate findings, and work harmoniously with stakeholders. Additionally, evaluate patient safety initiatives, assist in implementing improvement initiatives, address quality-related issues, promote a culture of quality excellence, and serve as a subject matter expert.
Minimum Qualifications
Degrees:
a) Diploma / GED
b) Bachelor's Degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology
Licenses & Certifications:
a) Medical Technologist OR Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) Histotechnician (HT), Histotechnologist (HTL), Cytotechnologist (CT), Molecular Biology (MB), Molecular Diagnostics, or equivalent certification within the following organizations: ASCP, AMT, ABB, or equivalent.
b) Quality Certificate Quality Improvement Association (CQIA), Quality Process Analyst (CQPA), or Quality Technician (CQT)
c) Certified Professional for Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Six Sigma Certification, Project Management Certification
Work Experience:
a) Five (5) Years Work Experience: Clinical laboratory in one of the following areas: Blood bank Chemistry and hematology) Point of Care Testing (POCT) Microbiology Histology or cytology Molecular / flow cytometry
Management Experience:
a) Three (3) Years of Experience: to include project management, regulatory compliance, quality assurance and strategic planning or directly related healthcare experience
Communication Skills:
a) Above Average Verbal Communication (Heavy Public Contact)
