Job Summary

The Pharmacy Oncology Manager leads system-wide oncology pharmacy services in hematology/oncology, ensuring safe, evidence-based, and cost-effective medication management across inpatient, outpatient infusion, residency training programs and specialty settings through innovative pharmacy services, clinical excellence, and system wide collaboration. This role ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements, drives financial stewardship, fosters staff development, and serves as a key partner in advancing the health systems cancer service line. drives strategic initiatives, oversees oncology-related drug utilization programs, and serves as a key resource to interdisciplinary teams. By integrating patient centered care, education, research, and operational oversight, this position elevates oncology pharmacy services to deliver exceptional outcomes for patients, providers, and the community. The manager also directs pharmacy education and residency programs, contributes to research, and represents pharmacy leadership in system-wide committees to elevate oncology pharmacy practice.

Minimum Qualifications

Degrees:
- Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or Pharm. D. degree from an accredited school of pharmacy
- Master's Degree: MBA/MPH/MHA or related degree (Preferred)

Licenses & Certification:
- Pharmacist: Texas Pharmacist License or eligible for Texas Pharmacist License; must obtain licensure within 90 days of employment.
- Texas Pharmacist Preceptor Certification: Within 90 days of employment
- PGY1: from an ASHP-accredited residency program
- PGY2: from an ASHP-accredited residency program or may consider 5-year experience in oncology as an alternative
- IV Sterile Certification: Required for all inpatient areas and Fondren Pharmacy at Smith Clinic. Preferred for ACS (excluding Fondren Pharmacy at Smith Clinic), LBJ OP
- Board Certified Pharmacy Specialist: Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification in Oncology to be completed within 18 months, if not held at the time of appointment.
- Basic Life Support American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of employment.
- Adv. Cardiac Life Support: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) with course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or per LRC will be required for inpatient positions prior to or within 6 months of employment. NICU/ EC Clinical Specialists will, in addition, require accredited Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) ad Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS) certification of Pharmacy, If licensure by reciprocity or if new pharmacy graduate, must obtain Texas license within the first 90 days of employment

Work Experience:
- Five (5) Years Work Experience: total Pharmacy experience including 3 years as a clinical pharmacy specialist in a progressive clinical practice in oncology required.

Management Experience:
- Three (3) Years of Management Experience: related pharmacy management experience
