Job Summary

The Prog Mgr PeriOp (PMP) is accountable for the operational, human resource, quality, and financial management of assigned nursing specialty area(s)/programs. This manager works with the administrative director to translate pavilion and department strategic plans and policies into a plan suitable to the unique operational needs. The (PMP) leads implementation and evaluation of the plan and provides reports relevant to achievement of goals including patient safety, quality and throughput related to Perioperative Services. As applicable, the (PMP) is accountable for assuring the Harris Health System Nursing Professional Practice Model (NPPM) is implemented and targeted outcomes achieved on assigned area(s)/program. The (PMP) provides oversight to ensure area care delivery, quality management, and staff utilization patterns are congruent with NPPM framework. In addition, this manager facilitates actualization of shared governance and practice level advancement of area personnel. The (PMP) has the authority to make all operational and human resource decisions relevant to his or her assigned area as long as decisions are consistent with district and nursing and departmental policies, standards, and other Chief Nursing Officer and Nurse Executive Council approved guidelines. This manager performs duties of the Perioperative Services Nurse Program Manager to include all perioperative services departments.

The (PMP) is responsible for creating and maintaining an environment that cultivates exemplary patient care. As a member of the nursing leadership team, the (PMP) establishes a setting that supports professional nursing practice and empowers nurses to provide safe, effective, compassionate, and efficient nursing care in collaboration with all health care disciplines. The (PMP) ensures compliance with standards established by professional nursing organizations; national, state, and local regulatory agencies; and institutional policies and procedures. The (PMP) is accountable for nursing practice that upholds high standards of integrity and ethical behavior. The (PMP) mentors others, role models professionalism, and participation in activities such as nursing organizations, nursing research, and community outreach.

Minimum Qualifications

Degrees:
a) Bachelor's degree in Nursing: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field required.
b) Master's Degree: Master's degree Preferred in Nursing or related field. Holds at least one (1) of the following in Nursing: Bachelors, Masters, or Doctoral degree.

Licenses & Certification:
a) Certificate: Certification in administration and perioperative clinical specialty (CNOR preferred, CPHQ or CNL accepted) completed within two (2) years, if not held at the time of appointment.
b) Registered Nurse: Licensed to practice as RN in the state of TX
c) Basic Life Support: Basic Life Support from approved American Heart Association (AHA) or Red Cross program.

Work Experience:
a) Three (3) Year Work Experience: In perioperative setting required
b) Three (3) years in related clinical area of practice: Recent experience in coordinating projects/programs. Previous regulatory, compliance, and accreditation experience. (Preferred)

Management Experience:
a) One (1) Year management/leadership: One (1) year related management/leadership experience is required.
