Trauma Registry Manager-FT/Day Shift (Ben Taub Hospital)

Job Summary
The Trauma Registry Manager (TRM) performs concurrent chart review and extrapolates data for complete and accurate database of identified trauma patients. The TRM develops and implements quality assurance processes to evaluate care and cost factors of trauma care as well as accuracy of data being submitted to local, state and national registries. This manager is able to perform all skills and tasks as a Trauma Registrar, as well as supervise the day-to-day operations including productivity, and performance improvement activities of the Trauma Registry and Trauma Coordinators. The TRM facilitates and coordinates communications and processes of computerized trauma systems with the Harris Health System, Southeast Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council, American College of Surgeons TQIP program and the Texas Department of State Health Services.
The TRM is responsible for creating and maintaining an environment that cultivates exemplary patient care. As a member of the nursing leadership team, this manager establishes a setting that supports professional nursing practice and empowers nurses to provide safe, effective, compassionate, and efficient nursing care in collaboration with all health care disciplines. The TRM ensures compliance with standards established by professional nursing organizations; national, state, and local regulatory agencies; and institutional policies and procedures. The TRM is accountable for nursing practice that upholds high standards of integrity and ethical behavior. The TRM mentors others, role models professionalism, and participates in nursing organizations, nursing research, and activities within the community.
Minimum Qulaifications
Education:
i. Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with a Bachelors degree in Nursing.
Licensure/Certification:
i.Current Registered Nurse license from Texas Board of Nursing;
ii.Completion of a Trauma Registrar Course completed within 2 years
iii.TCRN or CEN or CCRN required within two years;
iv.Two years' experience in AIS and ICD-10 coding;
v.Must have (2) years of progressive Trauma Registry experience;
vi.Certification as a Trauma Registry Specialist (CSTR) required within 2 years
vii.American College of Surgeons TQIP knowledge base and experience.
viii.Basic Life Support from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) approved program
Work Experience: Minimum two (2) years of experience with trauma registry software, generating trauma registry reports and creating queries. Experience with trauma quality metrics and TQIP specific indicators.
Management/Experience: Supervisory and management experience required
Equipment Operated: Trauma Registry Software Applications preferably Traumabase. Computer skills in Windows environment, word processing, managing database and reporting spreadsheet format (i.e.) Excel, Power Point, Access, Word, IBM.
