JOB SUMMARY: 

The Administrative Director of Medical Staff Services will work under the direction of the Senior Vice President, Medical Affairs, and is responsible for directing and assisting Harris Health  Credentialing/Privileging resources (e.g., the Board of Managers; Executive Administration; Medical Staff leadership; the Harris County Attorney's Office; and other management personnel) with medical staff activities consistent with the District Medical Staff Bylaws, applicable federal and state regulations and accreditation bodies.  The Admin Director will have responsibility for staff productivity, supervision, development, and evaluation; assist in the development and maintenance of appropriate medical staff governance documentation, including the by-laws and rules and regulations; collaborate with the Chairs of the Medical Staff Committees, Clinical Service Chiefs, and Legal and Corporate Compliance Departments on matters pertaining to Credentialing/Privileging and medical staff governance; and oversee the planning, implementation, execution and evaluation of special projects for Harris Health, Ambulatory Surgical Center and Correctional Health and the affiliated medical schools. The Admin Director should have a comprehensive knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations and authoritative guidance related to Medical Staff credentialing, governance and related topics.  The Admin Director will also plan and direct all activities relevant to Medical Staff Services related to Trainees, Advanced Practice Professionals, and Medical Staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:   

1. Education/Specialized Training/Licensure: Bachelors Degree Required, Advanced Degree preferred; Certified Professional Medical Services Management Certificate or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist from NAMSS within 2 years of start date 
2. Work Experience (Years and Area): 7-10 years of experience in health care industry required 
3. Management Experience (Years and Area): 5-7 years of management experience preferred; educational background and work experience may be considered in lieu of management experience
4. Equipment Operated: Regular Office Equipment

Typical Duties That May Be Performed:
Oversees daily operations of Medical Staff Services including, hiring, managing and evaluating departmental personnel. 
a. Maintains current knowledge of and ensures compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulatory requirements related to medical staff credentialing, governance and related issues. 
b. Coordinates the onboarding and exiting of Trainees and Faculty. 
c. Ensures that information is effectively disseminated to all members of the Medical Staff as appropriate. 
d. Functions as liaison to the Medical Staff to promote an optimal environment to organize and administer medical staff activities. 
e. Administers and oversees medical staff credentialing process. 
f. Supervises the planning and production of continuing education to meet the identified needs of the Medical Staff, as indicated by Medical Staff administration. 
h. Assists in developing and implementing medical staff policies.
i. Provides direction, leadership and oversight to complete the scope of work for which MSS is responsible. 
j. Ensures accurate data entries, meets timelines and deliverables.
k. Ensures effective and timely communication with the department and leaders.
