Job Summary
The Harris Health System Advanced Practice Nurse - Correctional Health (APN- CH) functions as a clinical provider to socially marginalized patients under the jurisdiction of the justice system. The APN-CH evaluates, plans and provides care to patients in consultation with and under the direct supervision of the attending physician and serves as a clinical leader responsible for facilitating quality patient care in collaboration with pavilion leaders, nursing staff, and other disciplines. The APN-CH provides both programmatic and individually-delegated patient care. The APN-CH serves as a clinical expert and consultant to support the healthcare system in providing patient-centered, culturally-competent, outcome-focused therapeutic care within the management of specified populations through independent and collaborative clinical management. The APN-CH aligns practice with professional rules and regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies and procedures.
The APN-CH leads programmatic initiatives for care improvement that is congruent with the strategic and operational goals of the Correctional Health pavilion. The APN-CH provides personalized care and service consistent with the Harris Health System care values on people, diversity and inclusion, compassionate care, trust, integrity, mutual respect, communication, and education.
Minimum Qualifications
Degrees: Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing with a Master's degree in Nursing with completion of a university-based program for Advanced Practice Nurse
Licenses & Certifications:
Adv Practice Registered Nurse; Current recognition as APRN with the Texas Board of Nursing
Basic Life Support; from the American Heart Association or Red Cross
Registered Nurse; Current recognition as RN and with the Texas Board of Nursing
Certificate; Current specialty certification from nationally recognized certifying Organization Current prescriptive authorization (or eligibility) from the Texas Board of Nursing ANCC Certification. Other certificates as required by unit/service. Correctional Health ' BC (certification)
Work Experience:
One (1) Year Work Experience of APN experience
Three (3) Years Work Experience of RN experience in related clinical area of practice
Language Skills: Spanish Preferred
