Job Summary
The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) coordinates with the nursing leadership in an assigned unit, department or service to ensure work is accomplished safely and effectively. The ANM collaborates with the Nurse Manager to enhance the quality of care, improve staff performance and mentor the nursing staff while supervising the day-to-day activities of the assigned area. The ANM provides leadership to ensure the smooth operation for the area and enhances the interdisciplinary and interdepartmental relationships within the hospital.
The ANM assists in coaching nursing personnel in implementing specific Nursing Professional Practice Model (NPPM) guided practices and facilitates achievement of targeted outcomes on the assigned clinic(s)/area(s).
The ANM fosters an environment that supports professional nursing practice and empowers nurses to provide safe, effective, compassionate, and efficient nursing care in collaboration with all health care disciplines. The ANM ensures compliance with standards established by professional nursing organizations; national, state, and local regulatory agencies; and institutional policies and procedures. The ANM is accountable for nursing practice that upholds high standards of integrity and ethical behavior. The ANM mentors others, role models professionalism, and participates in nursing organizations and research.
Minimum Qualifications
Degrees:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Licenses & Certifications:
- Certification: In a clinical nursing specialty required within 2 years of appointment. Other certificates as required by unit/service.
- Basic Life Support: from approved American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) Program.
- Registered Nurse: State of Texas or valid multistate/compact license.
Work Experience:
- Two (2) Years Work Experience: in clinical area of responsibility.

Management Experience:
- One (1) Year of Management: as a Charge nurse or leadership.
