One unit of CPE is preferred but not required.  The application fee of $25 must accompany the application.

Program Duration: August 25th 2025 to August 7th 2026

JOB SUMMARY:  

The Chaplain Resident, under supervision of CPE educator and manager, provides spiritual care to patients, families and staff of Harris Health.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:   

  1. An individual who, through a written application and admissions interview, has demonstrated the ability to participate in an ACPE certified CPE Program.
  2. Completion of an ACPE application.
  3. One who has successfully completed at least one year of theological school or 72 academic hours of accredited theological education.
  4. Other requirements or education and experience as a specific ACPE Center may be required. Experience working with diverse populations or religious institutions. One previous CPE unit preferred; not required.
  5. Equipment Operated: computer, telephone, pager.

Bilingual Skills Preferred

Minimum Qualifications

Degree:
Bachelor's Degree
Master of Divinity or equivalent Clinical Pastoral Education Residency (1 certified
units) preferred.

Work Experience: Pastoral, congregational or chaplaincy experience preferred.

Language Skills: Bilingual Skills Required? Preferred Yes Languages: Spanish

Licenses & Certifications: Basic Life Support: from approved American Heart Association (AHA) or Red Cross Program

Communication Skills:

Writing /Reports

Proficiencies: P.C., MS Word, MS Excel
