Skills / Requirements

JOB SUMMARY: Assists with efforts such as patient education, staff in-services, program development, and plan and decision to address the area concerns. Provides training and guidance to volunteer groups, students, parents, and members of the health care team. Provides comprehensive Child Life interventions to hospitalized children and families so as to facilitate normal growth and development and emotional adjustment to the health care setting. Demonstrates competence to adapt work and customer service assistance methods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety and other developmental needs of patients served by the department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Specialized Training/Licensure: BA/BS in Child Life/Child/Family Development. Certified Child Life Specialist by the Child Life Certifying Committee.

Work Experience (Years and Area): Three years of clinical experience minimum

Management Experience (Years and Area): preferred

Equipment Operated: Audio-visual equipment; telephone, personal computer, video games, etc.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Communication Skills: Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contact), Exceptional Verbal (Public Speaking), Writing/Composing Correspondence, Writing/Composing Reports

Bilingual: Spanish

Other Skills: Analytical, Medical Terminology, P.C.

Work Schedule: Weekends, Holidays, Flexible

Other Requirements: Must demonstrate competency in age-specific and job-specific criteria.
