Job Profile

The Director of Respiratory Care (DRC) is accountable for the operational, human resource, quality, and financial management of his or her assigned pavilion department. This DRC works with the Administrative Director to translate pavilion and department strategic plans and policies into a department plan suitable to the unique operational needs. The DRC leads implementation and evaluation of the department plan and provides reports relevant to achievement of goals. The DRC provides oversight to ensure care delivery, quality management, and staff utilization. The DRC facilitates actualization of shared governance and practice level advancement of unit personnel. The DRC has the authority to make all operational and human resource decisions relevant to his or her assigned department as long as decisions are consistent with district, and departmental policies, standards, and other Associate Administrator and Administrative Director approved guidelines.

The DRC responsible for creating and maintaining an environment that cultivates exemplary patient care. As a member of the multidisciplinary leadership team, the DRC establishes a setting that supports professional practice and empowers respiratory care practitioners to provide safe, effective, compassionate, and efficient patient care in collaboration with all health care disciplines. The DRC ensures compliance with standards established by professional respiratory care organizations; national, state, and local regulatory agencies; and institutional policies and procedures. The DRC is accountable for respiratory care practice that upholds high standards of integrity and ethical behavior. The DRC mentors others, role models professionalism, and participation in activities such as respiratory organizations, research, the community.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Licensure/Specialized Training: Graduation from an accredited School of Respiratory Care with A Masters degree in Respiratory Care or related field;Licensure/Certification: Applicable professional certification is to be completed within two (2) years, if not held at the time of appointment;

Work Experience: Five (5) years of Respiratory Care experience with at least three (3) years work experience in related clinical area of practice;

Management Experience: Five (5) years related management/leadership experience is required.
