Skills / Requirements

The Epic Clinical Systems Analyst III ensures that the operational interests of their respective functional areas are being fully represented in the day-to-day operations of the Information Systems Department.  This role supports the Epic Clinical applications deployed within the Harris Health System. Defines Epic EHR and integrated application system scope and objectives based on user needs, to create the comprehensive EHR solution for the Advance Population Health Core Strategy initiative including Care Coordination for both Acute and Post-Acute care. Analyzes and revises existing system logic and documentation as necessary. Works collaboratively with clinical and business owners to provide IT solutions that meet the needs of the areas involved. Provides mentoring, guidance and training to less experienced analysts.


  • Participate in all phases of the system development life cycle including development of use cases, workflows, and evaluation of software solutions. 
  • Lead in the planning, design, development and testing of new applications and enhancements to existing applications to support Population Health initiatives for Beaumont Medical Group and independent practices
  • Technical build and support of CareQuality Platform products Happy Together, Healthy Planet Link to support shared patient data from diverse EHR systems and patient portals 
  • Use expert knowledge of technologies and business processes to provide in depth analysis of application/system and develop solutions to meet business/customer requirements
  • Document detailed description of users’ business needs, program functions and steps required to develop or modify systems with minimal guidance. 
  • Analyze, design, build, code/configure, test, debug, and document all activities to support implementing and maintaining application systems with minimal direction.
  • Assist in testing all aspects of a solution including correct results, integration, data and system integrity.
  • Direct the deployment of new applications and enhancements to existing applications. 
  • Participate in training the end users, providing 24 x 7 customer support and assisting colleagues. 
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide off-hours end user support.

Education/Specialized Training/Licensure: Bachelors degree in an Information Systems / Clinical Informatics related field or 4 years of  related IT experience in a Healthcare environment. Certification for at least one Epic Clinical Application

Work Experience: 5+ Years within I.T.  Three (3) Years Hospital Health Care Organizations Business Analysis

Advanced Education:
Bachelors Degree Major: Bachelors degree in an Information Systems / Clinical Informatics related field
Work Schedule:   On Call

Other Requirements:
Be available to work on site (after hours) as needed
Experience providing hands-on clinical patient care in a hospital or clinic setting preferred.
At least 1 year of Epic Project and/or Epic Team Lead experience preferred.
Healthcare Information Technology experience.
Understands the limitations and opportunities presented by the applications supported.
Ability to recommend process improvements based upon industry standards in addition to resolving integrated process issues.
Ability to handle multiple activities simultaneously, be able to prioritize effectively, and meet overlapping deadlines.
