Job Summary
The Epic Willow Pharmacist Lead ensures that the operational interests of their respective functional areas are being fully represented in the day-to-day operations of the Information Systems Department. This role supports: The Pharmacy Clinical applications deployed within the Harris Health System, the team of Informatics Pharmacists by mentoring and evaluation of day-to-day resource assignment, and acts as a point of escalation for our operational leaders.
The Epic Willow Pharmacist Lead is responsible for administration and work related to Epic Willow module. This position will maintain and implement new Epic functionality, system upgrades and enhancements as required. The role requires a blending of technical skills with a comprehension of the operational department (Pharmacy) and their information systems tools and requirements. In addition, this role provides analytical expertise to information systems end users with the overall objective of improving the use of application systems functionality.
Minimum Qualifications
Degree: Bachelors of Science (Or) Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
a) Bachelors (Pharmacy)
b) Doctor of Pharmacy (PGY2 specialty Residency) (Preferred)
Licenses & Certifications:
a) Epic Willow Certification: Willow Inpatient and/or Willow Ambulatory
b) Registered Pharmacist: Registered with Texas State Board of Pharmacy ' If licensure by reciprocity must obtain Texas license within the first 90 days of employment
Work Experience:
a) Eight (8) years work experience of Combination of IT and Informatics work with at least 5 years in a healthcare setting
b) Three (3) Years Work Experience in Pharmacy operations experience
Management Experience:
a) Two (2) years of experience in Leading Epic projects and teams.
Communication Skills:
a) Above average Verbal Communication (Heavy Public Contact)

Typical Duties That May Be Performed:
1) Participate as a leader of the Epic Willow Team in developing and maintaining automation, clinical, financial, and operational data in information systems.
2) Adhere to the mission, vision and corresponding goals for Harris Health System and the Information Technology Department.
3) Follow operational and administrative policy and procedures for the Information Technology Department to ensure compliance with the Harris Health System mission and vision.
4) Collaborate effectively with the department of Pharmacy to develop, improve and maintain Harris Health System clinical programs and initiatives.
5) Maintain strong working relationship with pharmacy staff, managers and leaders.
6) Maintain competence by attending staff development in-services and continuing education programs.
7). Provides oversight and mentorship to the members of the Epic Willow Pharmacy Team as it relates to the Evaluation and testing of system code changes relative to the changes in the state of pharmacy practice.
8) Assure clinical system integrity and operational efficiency.
9) Facilitate and Lead necessary information systems projects and optimization tasks.
10) Responsible for build, maintenance and support of clinical and formulary information in clinical and automation systems, including but not limited to Epic Willow Inpatient, Epic Willow Ambulatory, Epic Beacon, Pyxis MedStation, Pyxis CII Safe, McKesson Med Carousel, Alaris Smart Pumps, Smith Medical Smart Pumps, Epic Inpatient and Epic Ambulatory.
11) Leads committees, meetings, and task forces as appropriate.
12) Report development, generation and distribution.
13) Assists the Staff Development Coordinator in developing and teaching related materials.
14) Provides on-call services for critical IT systems support as necessary.
15) Perform duties as necessary and assigned by the designated Manager.
