Job Summary

The Grant Staff Accountant is responsible for full-cycle accounting functions related to assigned areas in order to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and regulations and restrictions governing all grants and restricted donations (Grantor Requirements). The position is responsible for analyzing financial data and working closely with key stakeholders to determine proper accounting treatment in accordance with GAAP and Grantor Requirements from pre-award through post-award. The Grant Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting with recurring accounting activities including but not limited to: grant/general ledger close-out, account analysis and reconciliations, sub-system reconciliations, and financial requirements per the Grantor Requirements. The Grant Staff Accountant will also identify and recommend changes in accounting systems and procedures where applicable. This position works independently but will receive guidance and strategic direction from the Grant Accounting team.

Minimum Qualifications

Degrees/Work Experience/School Education:
a) Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance

Licenses & Certifications:
a) Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA eligible

Work Experience:
a) One (1) Year Work Experience: Accounting experience; Healthcare and/or grant experience preferred

Communication Skills:
a) Above average Verbal Communication (Heavy Public Contact): Strong communication skills to work with all levels within the organization
b) Writing/Reports

Proficiencies:
a) MS Word
b) Personal Computer
c) MS Excel: (i.e pivot tables, v-look-ups, etc)
d) MS PowerPoint
