Job Summary
The Health Information Management Scanning Technician is responsible for maintaining and making available to authorized users timely, accurate, and complete patient health information (PHI). Maintains and protects PHI by keeping patient information by Harris Health System, credentialing agencies, HIPPA, and local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Ensuring Protected Health Information (PHI) remains confidential. Clinical documents are scanned and/or uploaded and indexed to the patient electronic health record (EHR) within 48 hours of receipt. Ensures documents and medical records are maintained according to Harris Health System policies and procedures. Assisting patients and external facilities with request for PHI and form completion. Answering, transferring incoming calls, data entry, filing, and retrieval of patient paper medical records.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Work Experience: One (1) year in Medical Record or Related healthcare area
Communication Skills: Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contact), Writing / Correspondence
Proficiencies: MS Word, MS Excel, Typing
