Job Summary

The EMS Dispatcher primarily coordinates distribution of EMS and other medical vehicles for patient transport requests to and from Harris Health System facilities. They utilize cutting edge technology to dispatch appropriate EMS resources that meets patient's needs and provide safe and timely transports. EMS Dispatcher works closely with Transfer Center, clinical care teams, and system leadership to ensure efficient processes, and effective resource management while maintaining complete compliance with Harris Health System procedures, policies and practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

School Education:
Diploma/GED

Degree:
Associates (Preferred)

Licenses & Certifications:
Emergency Medical Tech - Basic: in the State of Texas (Preferred)
Emergency Medical Dispatch (IAMTCS) International Association of Medical Transport Communication Specialist or equivalent related required within one (1) year of employment.
Texas Driver's license
Basic Life Support

Work Experience:
Two (2) Year Work Experience: in a call center, dispatch center, or customer care center. (Preferred)

Above average Verbal Communication
Exceptional Verbal (Public Speaking)
Writing/Correspondence
Writing/Report

Language Skills:
Bilingual Skills preferred; Spanish, Vietnamese

Proficiencies:
Typing: Between 40 & 49 Words per minute
PC: Electronic Medical Record, Contact Center, Conference Software
