Job Summary
The Professional Practice Evaluation Specialist (PPES) is responsible for the utilization of existing mechanisms, systems, measures, and data to evaluate medical staff performance in core competencies inclusive of clinical knowledge, patient care, and professionalism. The PPES is responsible for abstracting and validating clinical data as part of a comprehensive evaluation process that is required for all privileged medical staff within Harris Health System - Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation. The PPES participates in the early identification of trends in support of performance improvement opportunities, and serves as a subject matter expert in credentialing, core competency, performance metrics, clinical workflows, medical knowledge, and patient access to care, and related matters. The PPES will work closely with assigned service/pavilion to assure data are obtained and reviewed in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications

Degrees: Bachelors
Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing with a Bachelors degree in Nursing.
Masters degree in Nursing or related field preferred

Licenses & Certification:
Registered Nurse; Licensed to practice as RN in the state of Texas
Basic Life Support; Basic Life Support from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) approved program
Related specialty certification within two (2) years of employment; Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred

Work Experience: Three (3) years of experience in a related clinical area of practice required. Familiarity with OPPE/FPPE and standards of care metrics for accreditation and maintenance preferred.

Management Experience: One (1) year of program/project management/leadership experience related to quality improvement

Communication Skills: Above average Verbal Communication (Heavy Public Contact), Exceptional Verbal (Public Speaking), Writing/ Correspondence, Writing/ Reports

Proficiencies: MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Outlook, P.C., Typing 30 WPM
