Job Summary
The Program Director Hazardous Materials leads overall Hazardous Materials Management activities for the system. Monitors and ensures compliance with all applicable Federal, State and local regulations and accreditation requirements related to Hazardous Materials and Waste at all Harris Health locations. Coordinates organizational efforts in the required record-keeping and reporting for related Federal, State and local requirements. Serves as system Subject Matter Expert regarding Hazardous Materials, Chemicals and Waste. Manages and maintains Hazardous Materials and related systems, policies and procedures including the Hazardous Materials Management System, Management of Hazardous Materials, Management of Regulated Medical Waste, Hazard Communication Program, and others to ensure compliance is maintained. Effectively manages Hazardous Waste Management and Disposal contracts. Serves as a core member of the System Physical Environment Committee. Leads and participates in a collaborative team environment to achieve best possible outcomes. Supervises and directs the efforts of pavilion-based Environmental Compliance Specialists. Demonstrates a high quality work ethic by exhibiting ServiceFirst behavior, professional attitude, honesty and integrity at all times.
Minimum Qualifications
Degrees:
Bachelors of Applied Science, Environmental Science, Industrial Management, Chemistry; MBA, MS preferred.
Licenses & Certification:
HAZWOPER Certification required
Certified Hazardous Materials Manager preferred
Certified Hazardous Materials Practitioner preferred
Certified Healthcare Safety Professional preferred
Work Experience:
10 Years of Experience of Hazardous Materials and Waste ( 5 years in Healthcare Safety Experience).
Management Experience:
5 Years of Experience of Departmental Management, Customer Service, Process Improvement, Team-building.
Communication Skills:
Above average Verbal Communication (Heavy Public Contact)

Proficiencies: MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Project, P.C.
