Job Summary
Responsible for safeguarding and protecting the patient's rights to privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to the patient's protected health information (PHI) and that all Social Security, Disability, and Audit and Insurance requests comply with the Harris Health System's and Health Information Management/ Release of Information Departments policies and procedures as well as Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy rules. Responsible for processing all Social Security, Disability, Audits, and Insurance requests for PHI. Ensuring medical records requests are processed in a timely and efficient manner according to Health Information Management/Release of Information policies and government regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Degrees:
a) Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management (Preferred)
b) Associates: Health Information Technician(Preferred)
c) HS Diploma/GED: General Studies
Licenses & Certifications:
a) Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) (Preferred)
b) Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) (Preferred)
Work Experience:
a) Two (2) to (4) years' experience with Release of Information
Communication Skills:
a) Above Average Verbal Communication (Heavy Public Contact)
b) Writing/ Correspondence
c) Writing/ Reports
Proficiencies:
a) MS Word
b) PC
c) MS Excel
