Job Summary
The Sr. PR/Media Relations Specialist is responsible for prospecting and developing positively toned news content that supports the enhancement of Harris Health System's name recognition, as well as understanding of the organization's strategic goals and objectives. The media relations specialist position will also serve as a liaison and resource to pavilion departments and news media to respond to inquiries as part of an on-call and Incident Command response to developing media situations. Additionally, the position will collaborate with providers and staff to contribute marketing and patient storytelling content for special health awareness events and other promotional efforts, and will take the lead in developing special projects as assigned by department leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Work Experience:
a.) Bachelors of Science in Journalism, Communications or related field (Preferred) (And) Seven (7) Years Work Experience in a major market news organization or a senior PR/media relations role. Five years of experience in health care is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills and superior organizational skills are imperative. Must have knowledge of video clipping software programs to monitor and distribute all media coverage. Project Management experience is a plus.

b.) High School Diploma or GED (And) Eleven (11) Years Work Experience in a major market news organization or a senior PR/media relations role. Five years of experience in health care is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills and superior organizational skills are imperative. Must have knowledge of video clipping software programs to monitor and distribute all media coverage. Project Management experience is a plus.
