Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Technician II is a certified technician whose areas of responsibilities covers decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing, storing, and distributing surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment according to established standards/guidelines. The SP Tech II demonstrates personal and professional effectiveness when working in an in-direct patient care department and addressing the request of the customer or provider.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
(AND)
Central Service Technology Course/Or Equivalent Work Experience (at least one year experience in central sterile processing)
License & Certifications:
Hold one of the following certifications or obtain within one year of hire:
CRCST, CSPDT, or CBSPD
Work Experience:
One (1) year of Central Sterile Processing experience required.
Communication Skills:
Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contact)
Bilingual skills preferred
Writing/Reports (Legible handwriting and coherent writing)
Other Skills: Medical Terms (Surgical/ Medical Terminology Knowledge, Critical Thinking, Multi-task in a fast paced environment, Ability to lead projects ,Monitor and interpret results of gauges & Research surgical instruments and supply companies), PC (Skills must be appropriate to meet the job requirements)
Work Schedule: Weekends, Holidays, Flexible, On Call
Equipment Operated: Sterilization equipment, decontamination equipment, computer/printer, elevator system, scope disinfector, heat sealer, and incubators.
Bar code Scanners Computer software, Temperature Monitors, and Equipment Gauges, Visual Screen Monitors, Digital Camera, and Inter-department Paging System
