JOB SUMMARY:
Provides comprehensive Child Life interventions to hospitalized children and families so as to facilitate normal growth and development and emotional adjustment to the health care setting. Provides training and guidance to volunteer groups, students, parents, and members of the health care team. Assists with efforts such as patient education, staff in-services, and other Child Life Program development activities.
Demonstrates competence to adapt work and customer service assistance methods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety and other developmental needs of patients served by the department.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Specialized Training/Licensure: BA/BS in Child Life/Child/Family Development.
Work Experience (Years and Area): Completion of a 480 hour Child Life Internship, supervised by a CCLS; must be eligible for professional level certification within 1st year of employment.
Management Experience (Years and Area):
Equipment Operated: Audio-visual equipment; telephone, personal computer, video games, etc.
