Job Summary
The Trauma Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of all services required to meet the individual health needs of admitted trauma patients. The Trauma Coordinator applies expertise in trauma and facilitates: patient care, multidisciplinary communication and collaboration, initiation of new consultation, quality assessment/audit; and leads/participates in education, data collection/reporting and research. The Trauma Coordinator utilizes available resources to promote quality and cost effective outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications
Education/specialized training/licensure:
A. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with a bachelor‘s degree in nursing preferred.
a.Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAISS) OR Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries (CSTR) either certification required within 2 years of hire
b.Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN); (Preferred)
B. Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) (Preferred) or
Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN) (Preferred)
c.Successful completion of TNCC, ACLS, PALS and CPR (required)
d.Instructor of TNCC, ACLS, and PALS (preferred)
C. Basic Life Support from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) approved program.
D. Other certificates as required by unit/service.
E. RN Licensure in the state of Texas (Required)
Work experience: Two (2) or more years critical care and/or emergency department experience.

Other Requirements: Knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to read and interpret medical records and laboratory reports. Accuracy and thoroughness; ability to work independently.
